Mailbox for iOS receives Native iPad Compatibility

Recent news from Apple reveal a new update. This new update was presented on Wednesday and comes to add native support to Mailbox, for the Apple iPad lineup.

Mailbox is the Gmail-based iOS email client. Currently, Mailbox is available to be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store. The official announcement of the release of this new app was made by Orchestra Inc, who revealed its updated app in a blog post on their official website.

The Mailbox update comes to add iPad support, but not only. It also fixes some bugs to enhance usability. Users can download the new update if they have iOS 6.0 or later. About a month ago Mailbox became available to all users interested in accessing this service.

Before that, users were required to wait for access. However, the reservation system was closed. Mailbox is a service available only to Gmail users. This makes many users complain, who are not very satisfied with the Apple app and would like this service to be available for more than just Gmail.

On the other hand, the lack of full iPad support for this service has been described as quite annoying by users, who wanted to be able to access this service on their devices, too. However, the popularity of Mailbox is undeniable, as statistics revealed that this service is used for delivering more than 100 million messages per day.

When the reservation system was removed, concerns occurred on whether the service is able to resist in front of the big influx of new users. However, it seems that Mailbox did just fine, as there are no indications of downtime since the moment when this change was made.

The popular Mailbox app was launched for the iPhone for the first time back in February. Rumors reveal that developers at Mailbox are also working to release a version of this app for the Android.

However, there is no official confirmation or details on whether this is true and when will the new release be made. The only thing certain is that reps for Mailbox claimed that creating the app for the iPad has not be simple at all, so it probably won’t be very easy for the Android, either.
