Apple Pay Reaches UK, but Major Banks are not its Partners

Apple Pay is said to be one of the most successful Apple services at the moment. There is no wonder that its UK release was quite expected. However, it seems that there are some issues that Apple is dealing with in this country. One of them is that not all major UK banks have shown their support for Apple's mobile payment service.
Apple Pay has been available in the United States since October. The service has gained quite an impressive popularity here, so there is no wonder that Apple decided to release it in the UK, as well. Initially, a series of banks announced to be on board with Apple's project, but now it seems some of them are mysteriously missing.

So, the Apple Pay arrived in the UK about nine months after its US release. Apple previously announced that the service will reach this country in July, although the exact date wasn't revealed. So, it seems that the famous company respected its promise and made the release now. The main functionality of the service and the fact that makes it so popular is that Apple Pay allows users to pay for items in stores, using their smartphones or Apple Watches, as well as to purchase items in apps.
The service is said to be available at over 250,000 locations in the UK. It was revealed that Apple has partnerships with MBNA, Nationwide, NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander and Ulster Bank. However, initially it was believed that the famous company also had partnerships with HSBC and Lloyds, but it seems that something might have happened to change that. Still, users should not worry, as this does not mean that they will not be added to the service.
Both HSBC and Lloyds confirmed that they will be supported later this year. Still, it is quite curious that this has not happened since the launch. It may also trigger some concerns among customers regarding the usability or even the security of the service. Maybe, the reasons behind this decision will be revealed later on. Meanwhile, Apple has also managed to extend the use of the Apple Pay service to more retailers and banks in the United States.
