Amazon Launches Amazon Fire HD 10

Amazon launched its new large tablet, called Fire HD 10. This new tablet is available at the price of 229 dollars and it is identical to the Fire HD 8, except for its size.

However, those two extra inches of screen definitely make a big difference. The larger tablet measures 10.3 by 6.3 by 0.3 inches, meaning that it is both wider and taller than the Fire HD 8.

Moreover, compared with Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7, the new HD 10 is a little taller, but not that wide. Probably, many customers will consider that Amazon’s tablet has a bit of a strange shape, because it’s a lot more rectangular than other tablets.

Due to its shape, the Amazon Fire HD 10 doesn’t make for a very good ergonomics, but it feels pretty comfortable in hand.
The new Amazon Fire HD 10

To be mentioned that this new tablet, Fire HD 10, is considered to be the biggest tablet that Amazon has ever launched. The device comes only in black or white color options and as for design, it looks like the 8-inch model, but larger. It comes covered in a plastic body and a polished sheen.

Probably, its glossy and smooth back will attract a lot of fingerprints, although the finish feels pretty comfortable.

Users will find on the right edge of the device the power button, Micro-USB port, volume rocker and headphone jack. Moreover, the expandable microSD card slot will be found on the right, while on the bottom edge are located the speakers. To be added that the microSD slot will accept cards up to 128GB.

Amazon Fire HD 10 runs Amazon’s latest Android-based operating system, called Fire OS 5 Bellini. This is a great update for the Fire OS, because it runs smoother and faster between books, apps, movies and magazines.

Compared with the Fire OS 4, the experience here is more user-friendly.
Under the hood, customers will find a quad-core MediaTek processor, clocked at 1.5GHz, accompanied by 1GB of RAM.

Unboxing Amazon Fire HD 10
Even if it’s not an impressive hardware, this tablet is perfect for everyday use. Most of its standard actions will run without a hitch, even if users will not experience the same buttery smooth performance as they will with a high-end and pricier device.

As for the home screen, it is composed of a row at the top of the page with new library content and a variety of apps situated on the bottom.

To be added that the top row can be really useful if users will subscribe to magazines or newspapers. Swiping right on the home screen, owners will also have a new screen with recently used apps and if they swipe left from the home screen, they will have menu screens organized by content.

Games, apps, books, videos, audiobooks, newsstand and music, each have their own separate page.

Moreover, there is also a search bar located at the top of each page that automatically categorizes search result into three sections: search results from the Amazon store, from Bing and matches from the content library.
