Facebook Introduces Break up Feature

It really seems that Facebook has everything figured out. The famous company is willing to help users easily get over a relationship. So, Facebook is introducing a new feature that aims to fix the worst part of breaking up with someone.

So, when breaking up, people commonly don't want to have anything to do with their former partners.

Of course, they are not willing to see them in photos or find out where they have been lately. Well, with Facebook, keeping the distance might be quite hard, as people commonly see posts and pictures, meaning that they are up to date on what former partners are doing, even though they may not want to.

Furthermore, Facebook can also tempt users to check out on their exes, being more difficult this way for them to move on from a failed relationship. However, Facebook seems to have become aware of this issue, being willing to make breakups easier to manage.

The famous company will now allow users to unfriend or block their exes. And that may not be all. Users can also de-tag themselves from photos with an ex, making sure that all connections are stopped.

How will the new feature be activated? Well, Facebook will actually ask users if they want to try the new tools, in case they change their relationship status.

"This work is part of our ongoing effort to develop resources for people who may be going through difficult moments in their lives," the famous company's Product Manager, Kelly Winters, shared through a blog post.

"We hope these tools will help people end relationships on Facebook with greater ease, comfort and sense of control," the same post added.

Of course, users can decline to use the new feature, if they are still willing to get updates from their exes. After all, not all relationships end badly, so some former partners still remain friends.

According to the social network, the new tools have already become available to users who are changing their relationship status. The company claimed that the whole idea is based on three major components.

Users will be able to limit how much of their exes they see on Facebook, as well as how much their exes seen about them. Users will also be able to limit access to past posts of themselves with the ex.

Until now, users had the possibility to hide their exes' posts from the News Feed, with the purpose to reduce the amount of information received. However, it seems that the popular company realized that not many people know how to do that and this is why it decided to introduce the separate feature.

Facebook stated that the feature is currently available on mobile devices only, in the United States. However, it will be rolled out gradually to more users, a decision that the famous company will make based on user feedback.

So, it is yet to discover if users will consider this feature useful and if they will really access it following a separation. The idea itself is not bad at all, as users commonly are willing to avoid their exes following a separation.
