Sony Platinum Wireless Headphone Review: Connect wirelessly to your PS4

We must say that Sony’s new headphone model sounds great and offers some interesting PS4-specific features.

However, there are also some downsides in this review, for example it is very uncomfortable, which means that users will catch a headache.

PlayStation 4 is considered to be the most appreciated gaming console on the market. This gaming console managed to exceed every expectations on the market and it enjoys an incredible audience.

Sony Platinum Wireless with PS4 Specific features
However, it is odd that Sony has, until now, only a couple of options for first-party PS4 headsets. One of these headphones is called the Sony Gold Headset.

But, in this review we are talking about the company’s latest model, called the Platinum Wireless.

This headset model has been called the best choice for PS4 owners. The new Platinum Wireless model comes with 3D surround sound and improved audio quality. So, without a doubt that this new model surpasses Sony’s previous model, the Gold headset.

Since this headphone model is made by Sony, customers should know that the Platinum Wireless requires only a simple USB connection to one of the company’s gaming console.

As we know, the PS4 has two available ports, which means that full functionality will be available to users.

Moreover, the gaming console will automatically recognize the headset, granting access to a number of unique features, for example a headset companion app on the home screen.

Moving forward, we must say that the charging process will be done with a USB to USB micro charging cable, just like the PS4 DualShock 4 controller.

We also must say that while being a first-party Sony product, this new pair of headphones comes with a number of quality-of-life features and bonuses.

For example, when people will plug in the new Sony Platinum Wireless, the headset companion app can be accessed from the console’s dashboard.

Here, people will be able to change the balance of high, mid and low frequency bands, and create custom EQs. Moreover, the battery life of the new headset appears next to the controller battery life indicator, placed in the upper left corner of the screen.

This is a great feature, because when the battery life is low, the console gives system notifications. In the end, we must also say that the system made note of whether the headset was in 3D or 7.1 modes.

This is a very interesting feature, because people will be able to tell what mode it was using without notifications.

Moving to the design, we must say that the new Sony Platinum Wireless looks great. It comes with matte black earcups that are padded with memory foam and leatherette. Moreover, this new model comes with a nearly invisible pinhole mic placed in the right ear cup.

Unfortunately, this new headphone model is not as comfortable as it should be. This means that people will not be able to use this model for long playing sessions. But, even if it doesn’t feel great, we must say that the sound is incredible, due to its 50mm drivers.
