iFixit Founds Low Repairability in New 21.5-inch iMac

One again iFixit has performed a teardown of an Apple product. The repair firm took this time the 21.5-inch iMac and found that this device has a very low repairability level.

According to the results of this test, the new Apple product received a repairability score of 3 out of 10, which is not great at all. According to iFixit, the iMac has a hard to replace display.

Moreover, the device also lacks easy- upgradable RAM, while the shipping times for the new product are delayed. The fact is that this new Apple device enjoys a great popularity, which means that it probably receives numerous orders and this would definitely make it more difficult for the company to be able to deliver immediately all packages.

Anyway, the company has increased shipping time, which has been pushed to over one week. Apple has had quite a busy period, so there is no wonder after all that the shipping time has been moved from between one and three days, to 7 to 10 business days.

Even though this may seem quite a lot of time to wait until receiving the new product, the demand must be quite impressive, as this is the only way to explain the delay. However, the exact reason of the delays remains unknown for now.

iFixit claims that besides the late delivery, the iMac is a big disappointment in terms of repairability. For starters, the firm found that the new display of the iMac is glued to the chassis, not only attacked.

This definitely is not great for repairability. The lack of upgradability is another aspect that iFixit brings in discussion. The firm claims that in order to change or replace the RAM and CPU, the screen has to be removed and the logic board, as well.

This can make it particularly difficult for the average user to upgrade his device. On the other hand, iFixit appreciated the fact that the new product comes with dual-microphone, which is a great thing for better FaceTime call audio.

Well, even though the new 21.5 inch iMac has not scored that well in terms of repairability, the new device seems to be quite appreciated.
