Mac Shipments Grow with 40% in Asia even with no New Models

Despite the fact that Apple has released no new Mac models, it seems that these smart devices are extremely popular in Asia. Sales of Macs have grown with 40 percent in the Asia-Pacific region.

This makes this region the best place for Mac shipments in the last quarter. Charlie Wolf, an analyst for the Needham & Company, claimed that the new growth had a positive impact over the not that great shipments and sales that the company registered in the US and Europe.

The analyst explained that sales of Macs on these two continents stagnated as the company failed to update its Mac lineup, thing that everybody expected to occur in the first quarter of 2012.

However, it definitely looks like the lack of new products has not been an influential factor on sales on the Asia-Pacific market. Moreover, the impressive request for Mac products here has made overall performance grow with 6.9 percent in the March quarter.

Still, the lack of new products seems to cost Apple. It is claimed that not only that Apple has released nothing new on its Mac line, but the company made no revelations on what it plans for the future. This means that clients avoid purchasing the current products, as Apple may announce in any moment a new release.

Charlie Wolf claimed that the slowdown in sales can definitely be associated to the lack of upgrades of Mac models. Wolf added that he expects Apple to change that soon.

According to the analyst, Apple will probably update its iMac and MacBook in June, in time for the back to school buying season. A series of rumors have surfaced so far indicating that Apple is planning on releasing some new updates this summer.

According to these rumors, the company will actually make the official announcement in June, at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference.

Regardless of when the company will present its new products, Apple is expected to release a new MacBook Pro with Retina display, as well as a thinner design for the MacBook Air. A new iMac that could add the Retina display might also be released by Apple.
