iPad Air and iPad mini to take 6 of Japan's top 10 tablet sales spots

Both the iPad Air and the iPad mini seem to be doing quite well in terms of performance and sales. The two smart devices seem to have taken Japan’s tops, while their popularity is in continuous growth.

Even though the iPad Air has been just one month on the market, it has already taken four of Japan’s top ten tablet slots. The iPad mini is doing quite well, too, taking two additional spots.

So, the 16GB iPad Air seems to be Japan’s top selling tablet at the moment. The iPad mini, the 16GB model, is on the second spot in the preferences of Japanese when it comes to tablet computers. Sales have been great in Japan for both of these products, which seem to be quite appreciated by the Japanese.

Apple’s domination on the tablet computers market is not that surprising, but the company has an interesting competition on this segment. For instance, Google’s Nexus 7 sells well in Japan, too, costing less than the iPad models.

However, until now, Nexus 7 has not been able to threaten the iPad. The latest Nexus 7 was launched by Google in July. Back then, it was claimed that the Nexus has been the most popular tablet last winter in Japan, which means that it was able to outsell the iPad mini.

Still, the statistics that were used to achieve these figures were made without having under consideration the sales from the App Store, as well as the ones from numerous other sale channels.

This is why they were disputed, being claimed that in reality the iPad mini has been by far more popular in Japan than its competitor from Google. So, monthly sales rankings by Japan BCN list revealed that the iPad Air is the best-selling tablet in Japan, Apple maintaining its supremacy on this market.

On the other hand, an important Apple competitor, Samsung, does not have a top selling tablet in Japan. Unfortunately for the company, it seems that Japanese are not very fond of their products, at least on this segment.

How will this market evolve and if Apple will continue to remain as popular, despite the release of numerous new competitor products, is something that we are about to see.
