Facebook Launches Instant Articles in Asia

Facebook, like all other tech companies, is searching for ways to keep users engaged. When it comes to social media, users can easily get bored and turn to other available possibilities to communicate or check updates from friends, such as Twitter or Google +.

Well, Facebook is commonly coming with new features to make sure that users will continue to long in to the social network. Now, the famous company has launched instant articles in Asia. Reportedly, Facebook has no less than 50 media partners for the project. The official announcement was actually made by Facebook on Thursday.

The social media network announced that the Instant Articles feature is available in Asia for iPhone users. This feature can turn out being quite appreciated by users, as it allows faster loading within the Facebook news feed for content from selected publishers.

This would definitely mean more comfortable usage. Furthermore, Instant Articles also comes with some extra interactive features, it has been revealed.

It is quite interesting that Facebook has chosen to make the feature available for iPhone users only, for now, the famous company revealing that an Android rollout is going to be released in the coming days, as well. Actually, Facebook claimed that it will be out by the end of the year.

Well, it is important to mention that this is valid only for Asia. For instance, the Android feature has been available in India for over two weeks now. In the United States, the Instant Articles feature debuted only on iOS, back in May.

Facebook has partnered with 50 media partners across Asia.

"Expanding Instant Articles to Asia is a significant milestone for the product and for each of our early launch partners," the company stated.

"Instant Articles has been designed with extensive feedback from publishers, and we’re excited to bring this collaboration to our publishing partners in Asia to help them distribute fast, interactive articles to their readers in the Facebook app," an official blog posting added.

Well, if customers really like or use this feature is something that remains unclear for now. However, Instant Articles really seems to be coming with a suite of interactive features that can easily catch the eye. Facebook claimed that these features will actually allow publishers "to bring their stories to life in new ways."

Users will have the possibility to zoom in and explore high resolution photos. They can also watch auto-play videos, which come "alive as you scroll through stories." Interactive maps can be accessed and users will also be able to comment or like parts of an article.

Of course, the most important thing is that this feature will allow users to read supported content, without leaving Facebook. Facebook has over 500 million users in Asia at the moment. The service is expected to keep them engaged on the social media platform for longer, but it is also expected to increase the reach of the service.

Facebook is also said to be willing to make some changes to its advertising policy, as some content publishers have complained that they will not make enough revenue from the service.
