Lenovo ThinkPad 13 Chromebook Review: Is It Worth Buying?

Some interesting changes on the market. Rarely we see a powerful Chromebook on the market, but we think that it all starts with the ThinkPad.

As we know, Chromebooks have their own mission on the market. These devices are built for offering the basic utility of a notebook at attractive low prices.

So, one of the most tempting devices on the market now is the new Lenovo ThinkPad 13 Chromebook.

The original model runs Windows 10 and is available at the price of 600 dollars. On the other side, the Chromebook device runs Chrome OS and is available at 439 dollars. The configuration is also different between these two models.

This streamlined Chromebook is designed to balance mobility and productivity for professionals, students, and educators alike

Here, we talk about the new Lenovo ThinkPad 13 Chromebook.

This model comes with a 13.3-inch screen, featuring 1.366 x 768-pixel resolution, but there is also a version that offers full HD, which means that it has 1.920 x 1.080-pixel resolution and a touchscreen feature.

Inside, the new Lenovo ThinkPad 13 Chromebook is powered by an Intel processor, which customers have to choose from three options: Celeron 3855U, Core I3-6100U or Core i5-6300U.

Moreover, it also offers 2GB or 4GB of onboard memory, and 16GB or 32GB of storage (eMMC).

Lenovo ThinkPad 13 Chromebook is built to pass 12 Military Specification tests for durability
Pros The Lenovo ThinkPad 13 has a comfortable and responsive keyboard, battery life that'll last a work day and an adjustable screen with sturdy 180-degree hinges.
Cons Audio is muffled thanks to poor speaker placement, the display doesn't pop, and the keyboard isn't backlit. Chrome OS has limited software options.
So, we see that the new Lenovo ThinkPad 13 Chromebook is not cheap as any other Chromebook on the market. We must also mention that there are other great things about this laptop: it comes with a solid battery life, smooth performance and a comfy keyboard.

Let’s start with the keyboard. As we know, Lenovo is the best company on the market when it comes to keyboards.

The new Lenovo ThinkPad 13 Chromebook has an impressively spacious keyboard that feels incredibly comfortable while typing. This is a great keyboard, especially for a budget laptop. We must say that the individual keys are quick to respond and have a very comfortable fit to users’ fingertips.

The keyboard feels very roomy for a 13-inch laptop. Moreover, this keyboard is also better than the one found on a MacBook Air.

The only weakness of this keyboard is that it isn’t backlit, and it misses the traditional ThinkPad trackpoint from the Windows 10 version.

Another huge lack is that this laptop is not built for Netflix. This means that customers who are in search for a Chromebook that is perfect for watching Netflix, should know that this laptop is not the one.

The first bad thing is the screen. Even if it is perfect for Word documents or other PDF files, we must say that this screen lacks the brightness and colorful pop that users are searching at a device for watching TV and movies. The second thing are the speakers.

Customers who didn’t already plan on primarily using this laptop with headphones, should know that the speakers are bad. Lenovo has placed the speakers on the bottom of the laptop, which means that they are directing sound downwards.
