The new Sony SRS-XB40 comes with intense audio performance

Bluetooth portable speakers are taking over. These tiny speakers are perfect anywhere, even if we are talking about road trips or around the pool.

These days, Sony has released its new SRS-XB40. When people will turn on this speaker they will realize that the box will turn into something like a disco ball with LED lights accompanied by a band of many colors that jump around the grille.

This is a very nice feature, which will represent a huge attraction for many customers. But, the question here is:

If we stop these dancing lights, does the new Sony SRS-XB40 sound decent enough to convince people to buy it?

We must mention that this new Bluetooth speaker is available at the price of 249 dollars. Yes, we are talking about a high price, compared with other Bluetooth speakers that are offering a good sound and cost somewhere around 150 dollars.

However, the new Sony SRS-XB40 comes with intense bass response. But, we if talk about the lows, we must say that they are not quite good, especially when they have a huge bass in the back. The good thing here is that customers will also have the option to adjust the overall EQ using the SongPal app.

Another good thing about the new Sony SRS-XB40 is that it is water resistant.

This means that customers won’t have any problems place it near the pool or on the beach. Overall, we must say that this speaker is fun and it is capable of filling an entire room with quality sound.

Moving to the design, as we mentioned earlier, the new Sony SRS-XB40 comes with built-in light show.

Without a doubt that this is the biggest attraction when we talk about the look. The company claims that this speaker is rated IPX5, which means that it is resistant against moderate water jets.

Customers will be able to buy the new Sony SRS-XB40 in a couple of different colors: red plastic, blue, or black. Moreover, this speaker measures 4.0 x 11.0 x 4.3 inches, and it weighs approximately 3.3 pounds. This means that Sony’s speaker is not as easy as it looks.

Behind the grille, the company added dual 2.5-inch drivers, accompanied by forward- and rear- passive radiators, which will improve the responsiveness of the bass. On the top panel, customers will find an array of controls.

We are talking about controls like Extra bass, Play/Pause, Answer/End, Volume Down and UP, Add, and a Power/Pairing button. Moreover, there is a covered rear connection that homes a pinhole Reset button, a 3.5mm aux input, an USB port for charging mobile devices, and the AC adapter.

Unfortunately, the speakerphone is not so great, which means that customers will probably take calls on their phone.

The new Sony SRS-XB40 can be connected to two separate apps: Fiestable and Sony SongPal. But, users will probably go for the company’s app, because they will be able to pair multiple speakers with the same device. Moreover, when using the Sony SongPal app, people will be able to adjust the EQ.
