ZTE has released the affordable Max XL

The new ZTE Max XL comes with the latest Android software and HPUE support. But, this device also has some downsides, for example the unimpressive camera performance.

It seems that ZTE is making lots of phablets lately. But, the good thing is that these phablets are great.

Today, we are talking about the new Max XL. This new device is available at the price of 129 US dollars. At this price range, customers will receive a great large phone that homes a 6-inch display, accompanied by a powerful processor and a network technology that allows better coverage on Sprint.

Another great thing about this device is that it has HPUE support, which makes it that first non-flagship phone that has this feature.

Let’s move to the design. The new ZTE Max XL measures 6.5 x 3.2 x 0.4 inches. Moreover, it weighs approximately 6.3 ounces, which means that it is bigger than other competitors on the market. For example, the LG Style 3 and HTC Bolt are the main competitors to the new ZTE Max XL.

So, customers who are used to phablets will probably find this new phone attractive. But, customers should also know that the new ZTE Max XL is a little bit different compared with other phablets on the market.

Why? Because, its design is too wide and has a huge bezel situated on the top and bottom which makes it look a little bit strange. So, customers should know that this device is a two handed one.

Customers will find a volume button and a power shutter situated on the right side of the phone, while on the top there is a 3.5mm headphone jack. In the end, we must say that there is a USB-C port added on the bottom, accompanied by a SIM/microSD card slot. The great thing about this microSD card slot is that customers could add a 256GB card.

On the back of the phone, customers will find a fingerprint sensor that seems to be very responsive. This fingerprint sensor also doubles as other functions, for example as a shutter key when people are using the camera app.

As we mentioned, the new ZTE Max XL comes with a 6-inch 1.920 x 1.080 IPS display. Without a doubt that this display offers a nice and crisp resolution, packing 365 pixels into each inch. As for connectivity and network performance, the new ZTE Max XL supports GSM, UMTS, CDMA, and LTE bands.

There are additional connection options as Bluetooth 4.2 and dual-band Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, there is no NFC, which is a huge lack. However, we rarely find this feature at phones at this price range. Furthermore, we must say that the call quality is very good, but not extraordinary.

Under the hood, the new ZTE Max XL is packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor, accompanied by 2GB of RAM. We must say that these components are enough to handle a decent amount multitasking, without showing reasons of getting tired.
