Top Reviews:

I bought the 16-50mm lens version and it arrived very quickly. This is a beautiful machine, but its picture quality is also good, especially for videos. It is beyond my expectation and can still be used in low lights. And the focusing system is fast and impressive. In fact, I have NIKON Z7 and Sony A7m3, A7s3, and A7R4. I bought ZFC out of nostalgia. However, it seems that this camera performs well and can be used as a camera I carry with me everyday.

beautiful, small, light, easy to use. Very happy with the camera.

Lightweight, attractive, functional. Still trying it out. Sample photos.

Top Reviews:

not too sure who CANON is as I was decline a canon rebate as they said they were not an eligible retailer. ?????

As a professional photographer, this is hands-down the best portrait camera on the market. Paired with a 70-200 L series lens, the photos are crisp and the background is creamy, making your subject the point of focus. Tack-sharp images and fast! CF card options are so much better than SD options available on the cheaper models. It doesn't offer advanced video functionality, i.e. you have to manually focus videos, but its a still image camera and does so flawlessly.

UPDATED REVIEW OUT BELOW. AFTER 3 TRIPS TO THE REPAIR CENTER, CANON FINALLY REPAIRED MY CAMERA.I got this camera as a birthday gift this year. It worked great for the first 2 month and I noticed a lot of dust just started sticking to the sensor and isn't falling off. I never had this issue with my Canon EOS 7D which I had for 2 years now. On my Canon EOS 7D, I rarely get dust, and when I do, it usually gets shaken off by the self cleaning unit on the next power cycle. On my Canon EOS 5D Mark III, this never happened. The dust just kept collecting and collecting (the sensor was a dust magnet), so I sensed something was wrong with the self cleaning unit. Not to mention the camera was underexposing 80% of the time. I sent it into the Canon Irvine, CA service center for them to repair it. They adjusted the camera meter. They also adjusted the self cleaning sensor unit (so it was malfunctioning) and did a sensor clean. When I got it back, I noticed they left a bunch of residue and dust on my sensor (more than what I had before). The self sensor cleaning unit did nothing to it. Canon support gave me a shipping label back to get it fixed. So I sent it back in. A week later I got it back, not only was my sensor dirtier (I have test shots), they also left several scratches across the back of my camera and on the side! I contacted Canon support again. They gave me a label to ship it back in to get all the problems fixed. Now they want me to pay almost $280 for replacement parts even though all these issues happened because of the camera malfunction and due to the repair center worker's carelessness! To add insult to injury, I shared this repair story on their Facebook page. Instead of replying me to make things right, they just deleted my post all together. Very scammy company, do not recommend buying their products. I will attempt to work things out with their customer support. Will keep you guys posted. Also Canon, if you are reading this, having to send in my camera in for repair for the same issues (and issues introduced during the repairs) 3 times is very unacceptable. To people who says the reviews are about the products and not the repair centers. It is about the product. Not only is my camera screwed up on the basic functions of a digital camera, don't count on Canon to honor their in-warranty repairs (which is part of the product you buy). If you get a defective Canon EOS 5D Mark III, guess what? You are out $3500+tax!Update 7-11-2013:After 3 trips to Canon's repair center (still pretty ridiculous how they didn't get it right the first time), they have adequately fixed my camera. While there are still a few dust spots on the sensor, they are barely noticeable, so they did clean my camera to an acceptable level. It seems CPS handled my repair this time as my camera came back in a CPS bag. Also they have decided to replace the scratched up parts (caused by the repair center) for free after I complained to their Facebook page. Since my camera is usable now, I will need to take this camera and shoot before I can give a full review on the product. Right now I have upped my review to 3 stars and I doubt I will ever give it a 5 star rating due to the fact that the I had to send the camera in 3 times to get an in-warranty repair correct. If the warranty is part of the product you buy, Canon needs to be able to honor that warranty before the customer needs to make complaints online.MAIN REVIEW HERE (10-15-2013):I will not raise my star rating from 3/5 on this camera due to the problems I am about to describe in this review and the horrible warranty service I received. This is an okay camera, and can work very fast in continuous shutter mode. The focus tracking is very fast and I have used it on quick moving subjects and it hits the mark 95% of the time. Also, I can use this camera up to ISO 6400 with no issue in low light. While a bit grainy, there is barely any image noise even at ISO 6400. There is also no noise even during long exposures. I only spotted around 5 tiny "hot pixels" after a 4 minute long exposure. The camera has a built in "quiet mode" which kind of works. It suppresses the mirror slap noise, and I have used a few times outside around wildlife. While it does make a sound, ambient noise is enough to cover over it! Sometimes, I accidentally fire off 2 shots in this mode because I didn't hear the mirror. Also, this camera is incredibly rugged, and I have shot with it in rain and under waterfalls. No water got in and it performs very well (just make sure you have a weatherproofed lens too!). The only few issues that still persists in this camera is underexposure and white balance. My camera still constantly underexposes 2/3 to 1 stop around 75% of the time even though the light meter has already been checked and adjusted several times at the repair center during that self sensor cleaning problem. Also, I have noticed that the auto white balance is always off especially in day light. All my photos always have a blue cast on them and I always have to white balance off of something I know is white when I process my RAW files.Pros:- Rugged construction. Good weatherproofing.- Quiet mode does make some noise, however ambient noise is enough to cover it.- Great low light high ISO performance. Works great up to ISO 6400.- Low noise during long exposures.- Very fast at focusing and focus tracking.Cons:- Constant under exposure by 2/3 to 1 stop 75% of the time even though repair center has checked meter several times.- Inaccurate auto white balance.- Horrible warranty repairs and service.Overall, I am not too happy with the camera and would not recommend this product, and believe that Canon has to work out the big bugs in the system and also need to get some better repair technicians in their factory.

Top Reviews:

This camera is excellent. All the other reviews are accurate. Please be aware that they no longer offer the USA version of this camera, only the international, and that sellers are still offering it under this listing. Grey market cameras can not be repaired by and will not have a warranty through Nikon USA. The seller did offer a 1 year complementary warranty on the item, however at purchase I was not aware that this camera would be grey market.

I like nikon, but it seems it just isnt the greatest for video recording. it can get the job done, just at cost of more work than required.

I had a passion for photography since high school. 2years of classes. Where I fell in love with photographyThe Camera though is very great. Once I got my lens. The photos I took were crystal clear. Right now I only have the one lens. Still waiting on my zoom lens. I'm looking forward to doing nature shots animal shots. But so far all the photos ive taken came out perfect. My only downside is the wifi isn't simple. I got it to connect to my phone but really wanted it to be on my desktop. If I figure out the computer wifi thing I'll leg you know or if you know please help me figure that outBut yes overall I would highly recommend this camera to anyone if your willing to learn all the features the device had to lffer

Multi Shot Noise Reduction To enhance its already admirable high ISO shooting capabilities, the EOS Rebel T5i features an intelligent Multi Shot Noise Reduction tool that reduces noise even further than the camera's sensor and the DIGIC 5 Image Processor do

With Multi Shot Noise Reduction activated, the camera takes four consecutive shots, merges and aligns them

This eliminates more noise than the Rebel's traditional Noise Reduction filter, with little or no apparent resolution loss

Moving subjects are even optimized to minimize subject blur! Thanks to this clever feature, high ISO shooting has never looked better

Flexible and Reliable Recording

Compatibility with SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards, including Ultra High Speed cards The EOS Rebel T5i uses popular SD, SDHC, SDXC, and is even compatible with Ultra High Speed (UHS-I), memory cards

* Canon cameras are not guaranteed to support Eye-Fi card functions, including wireless transfer

In case of an issue with the Eye-Fi card, please consult with the card manufacturer

The use of Eye-Fi cards may not be available outside the United States and Canada; please contact the card manufacturer for territory availability

Compatible with EF and EF-S lenses The EOS Rebel T5i is compatible with all Canon lenses in the EF lineup, including compact and lightweight EF-S lenses, ranging from ultra-wide angle to super telephoto lenses and including the STM series optimized for video shooting

Canon lenses employ advanced optical expertise and micron-precision engineering to deliver outstanding performance and deliver beautiful results

It even has correction data for a number of popular lenses stored in its memory

With the EOS Rebel T5i's chromatic aberration correction tool, distracting color fringing can be corrected at the time of shooting

Feature Guide To help explain the specific function of features found on the EOS Rebel T5i, the Feature Guide displays a simple description helpful in determining the applicability for the situation at hand

It is displayed in each shooting mode, during mode dial operations, and for Quick Control screen functions

It appears automatically when a function is selected – a lifesaver when trying to determine the best mode or function for the next picture

This is an awesome camera .. however, there were a few items missing from (DVDs & strap) will you please contact me to make arrangements to have them delivered to me? Thank you in advance ..

Great camera for any beginner who wants a more professional photo. Easy to use and we love the touch screen. The lens it comes with is good and versatile, unlike some other kits. We did buy a 50mm lens that is also amazing with this camera. We bought this camera while expecting out first child instead of paying a photographer and it was one of the best purchases we made to help record beautiful moments. No filters needed.

Was expecting a SD card with it......could hv been better with a SD card camera cover and a tripod stand

Still getting acquainted with the features, but the menus are clear and battery life is good. Picture quality isn't as clear and sharp as I expected from a high resolution camera, but I believe the problem is with the automated focus points picking nearby items instead of more distant objects in the center of the picture. I'll be experimenting with different focal points. Overall the construction feels solid, the camera is fast, exposure is very broad ranged and the controls make sense. Very pleased with the camera.

Amazing Camera, the pictures and videos look amazing. The size is perfect, it’s not too heavy. I just wish the microphone in it was better but I guess that’s normal with products now, you always have to buy extra equipment to make it perfect. The audio sounds windy but an additional microphone with deadcat should fix that.

I decided to upgrade from a t5i to a t6i merely because of the better low light picture quality and lower noise on the t6i. First impressions were great, but then some flaws started to appear. The screen flickers once quickly when looking through viewfinder after shutter is released. The viewfinder itself has a red colored digital mesh that i found distracting and i didn't find it pleasing. Camera froze on me twice in a day with light use. With the sigma 17-50 lens the video mode doesn't work at all, camera freezes also. No issues when taking videos with kit lens. I put the sigma 17-50 lens back on my t5i and it works flawlessly. The quality of picture is indeed better than the t5i and the additional buttons are great, wireless remote shooting is awesome on the smartphone.I tried looking for any firmware updates but there are none, unlike many updates that were available to t5i. The t6i was introduced in april 2015 and the newest firmware on t5i is september 2016. The video autofocus is still awful compared to t5i even though they introduced more autofocus points on t6i. I find single point centered focus settign for videos to be the least troubling.I would have kept the camera, but it has to many annoying flaws, maybe i got a defective unit.

This is one of my favorite Amazon purchases. The camera is great for its class and price. It's a perfect fit for beginners and amateurs who want to get the hang of basic photography without spending an arm and a leg. The camera is easy to handle. When buying a DSLR, though: keep in mind the price of camera bodies but also keep in mind the price of lenses that fit that body. I'm finding that lenses for similar Canon bodies are cheaper now that I want to buy more accessories and lenses. So the relatively low price of this model may produce costs later. Do your research.

When my Nikon D3200 broke, I ordered a "used" D3300 to replace it. So far = so good ! The most current model of that "beginners" line is the D3500 which cost much more than what I paid for the D3300. One wonders just what one might have gotten for twice the price. Both have a 23.5 mm × 15.6 mm sensors, while the 3300 has an ISO of 100–12800 in 1/3 EV steps, up to 25600 as Hi 1, the newer model is listed as 100-25,600. The weight of the 3300 is 410 grams compared to the 365 grams for the D3500. The newer ones have Bluetooth. Being an amateur, I think the D3300 will more than suffice.

I returned this camera and ordered the 5300 instead. While it is lightweight and easy to hold, I found the viewfinder on the dim side and the LCD screen too small for my less than perfect vision. Picture quality was excellent. But I wanted a camera a bit more user friendly... and the 5300 is much better on that score.

Automatic Scene Analysis for Standout Color

New Scene Intelligent Auto mode and Picture Style Auto incorporating the new EOS Scene Detection System to capture beautiful scenes with ease

The EOS Rebel T3i DSLR’s new Scene Intelligent Auto mode unites five Canon digital camera technologies – the new Picture Style Auto, plus Automatic Lighting Optimizer, Automatic White Balance, Autofocus, and Automatic Exposure –into a powerful new feature for photographers

Using the advanced EOS Scene Detection System, the camera automatically analyzes the image, taking into account faces, colors, brightness, movement and contrast

Scene Intelligent Auto then chooses the enhancing features to deliver maximum impact

Blues and greens are more vivid, “hot” colors are more fiery, and skin tones are smooth and truer to life

Intelligent Scene Analysis for Superb Exposure

Enhanced metering with a 63-zone, Dual-layer metering system for accurate metering between exposures, and 9-point AF system utilizing a high precision, f/2

8 cross-type center point

The EOS Rebel T3i features a sophisticated, 63-zone Dual-layer sensor designed to complement the 9-point AF system

By taking into account the color and luminosity surrounding chosen AF points, this system delivers an advanced level of accuracy for better results even in difficult lighting situations

Since the metering sensor has a color measurement function, exposure errors and focus errors caused by different light sources are minimized; the EOS Rebel T3i gives stable exposure from shot to shot in situations where light changes, such as in a theater or concert hall

This makes the EOS Rebel T3i ideal for scenes with extreme difference in brightness such as brightly lit scenes or backlit scenes; the camera balances exposure of the main subject at the background, and exposures are not overly influenced by bright areas in the shot

Since the EOS Rebel T3i provides high-speed X-sync (“X-sync” means the fastest shutter speed that can synchronize with a flash burst at the moment the shutter is fully released) up to 1/200 sec

, the range of photographic expression is dramatically increased, allowing the EOS Rebel T3i to be used with confidence in bright scenes or dim

63-zone Metering System Make Your Images As You See Them

Express your creativity with advanced imaging features like Basic+ function, Multi-Aspect function and Creative Filters

Basic+ is a new creative imaging feature that makes it easy to create the image effects you want

It can be set with the Quick Control screen in Basic Zone modes

Basic+ provides two options: Shoot by ambience selection Based on the Picture Style and its parameters (sharpness, contrast, saturation, and color tone), the exposure compensation and white balance correction are adjusted to attain the selected ambience

You can also can also select the strength of the ambience effect

Shoot by lighting or scene type Although the actual parameter set is the white balance, the settings are expressed in more understandable terms

The Multi-Aspect Function of the EOS Rebel T3i lets you express an image in one of three ways by matching the aspect ratio to each scene

In addition to the camera’s standard 3:2 ration, the Multi-Aspect Function includes a 1:1 ratio that creates the sensation that the viewer's gaze is focusing upon the center of the image

At the 4:3 ratio, you get nearly the same aspect ratio as a regular TV or a 4:3 computer display

The 16:9 aspect ratio provides a wide look, much the same as HDTV

The EOS Rebel T3i incorporates five in-camera Creative Filters so you can artistically manipulate scenes without the aid of an outside computer

Soft Focus lends a dreamy, romantic aspect, while Grainy Black and White gives a dramatically gritty, hard-bitten look

Miniature Effect creates an illusion in which expansive subjects are seemingly reduced to doll-house-like proportions, and Toy Camera Effect recreates the colors and softness rendered by cameras with a plastic lens, an effect often sought after by art photographers

Fish Eye Effect mimics the “Fisheye” lenses that are favorites of professional photographers for their quirky, convex perspective

Never Miss a Moment

3

7 fps continuous shooting up to approximately 34 JPEGs or approximately 6 RAW

The EOS Rebel T3i can shoot up to 3

7 frames per second (fps) for up to approximately 6 consecutive RAW files or approximately 34 full-resolution JPEGs

Shooting at speeds of up to 1/4000 sec

, the EOS Rebel T3i can capture even rapidly-unfolding scenes with ease

Photography Made Truly Easy

New Feature Guide offers short descriptions of each function and Quick Control screen for easy operation

The Canon EOS Rebel T3i DSLR demystifies great photography by including an in-camera Feature Guide

Appearing on the camera’s LCD, the Feature Guide displays a simple description or advice for the respective function

It is displayed in each shooting mode, during Mode Dial operations, and for Quick Control screen functions (during normal shooting, Live View shooting, movie shooting, and playback)

The Feature Guide appears automatically during Mode Dial operations and when a function is selected on the Quick Control screen

Flexible Storage with Memory Cards

Compatibility with SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards

The EOS Rebel T3i uses popular SD, SDHC and SDXC memory cards

Compact, inexpensive and available in increasingly large capacities, SD, SDHC and SDXC memory cards are a perfect complement to the EOS Rebel T3i DSLR’s compact and lightweight body design

Additionally, the EOS Rebel T3i is compatible with Eye-Fi* SD cards, which are outfitted with a Wi-Fi transmitter (IEEE 802

11b/g) and an internal antenna for wireless, high-speed transfer of images

With an Eye-Fi card installed, the EOS Rebel EOS Rebel T3i can display the Eye-Fi’s connection status and error notes with ease, for fully functional wireless uploading of images directly from the camera

*Canon cameras are not guaranteed to support Eye-Fi card functions, including wireless transfer

In case of an issue with the Eye-Fi card, please consult with the card manufacturer

The use of Eye-Fi cards may not be available outside the United States and Canada; please contact the card manufacturer for territory availability

The Best Optics for the Best Images

Compatible with the full line of Canon EF and EF-S lenses

EF Lenses The EOS Rebel T3i is compatible with all Canon lenses in the EF lineup, including compact and lightweight EF-S lenses, ranging from ultra-wide angle to super telephoto lenses

Canon lenses employ advanced optical expertise and micron-precision engineering to deliver outstanding performance and deliver beautiful results

Special technologies like the Canon Image Stabilizer technology in select lenses helps to minimize the effect of camera shake, effectively adding up to four stops of light

With a dizzying array of lenses perfect for travel, sports, still life and everything in between, photographers can truly maximize the quality and performance of their EOS Rebel T3i with superlative Canon optics

Flash Photography With a flash sync speed of 1/200 of a second, the EOS Rebel T3i also features the acclaimed E-TTL II flash metering system

With any of the flashes in the EX Speedlite line, E-TTL II provides reliable flash output whether shooting fill-in flash pictures in sunlight, or using flash in total darkness

With E-TTL II, the exact same 35-zone metering sensor used for measuring ambient light is also used for flash metering — giving even finer metering command of the image area

If you prefer a broader area for flash metering, there’s a menu setting to change to “Average” flash metering — where the entire 35-zone area is measured evenly for flash exposure

Additionally, the EOS Rebel T3i has a Speedlite transmitter built-in for convenient, full-featured wireless control of EX-series Speedlite flashes set as slave units

The Canon Speedlite 430EX II is the ideal step-up accessory for powerful flash shooting with the EOS Rebel T3i

It has excellent flash power (maximum guide number of 141 ft

/43m at ISO 100), and is the perfect way to get great flash pictures when you can't get right up to the subject

The 430EX II is also great for bounce flash, with its tilting and swiveling flash head

It automatically zooms the flash head to cover lenses ranging from 16mm up to 105mm or longer with the EOS Rebel T3i

Of course, it works with the camera to provide full E-TTL II automatic flash exposure

And the 430EX II has a powerful AF-assist beam, which allows the camera to autofocus even in total darkness on subjects as far as 32 ft

from the camera

I had to return this camera because it came defective; however, that was not the reason why I didn't return it for the same thing. Canon makes great cameras and I chose them over Nikon after doing exhausting research. The clarity of the pics were amazing. The only hard issue I had with this camera was the speed. If you are looking to take rapid pics, this is not your camera. This is my first DSLR and even I thought it was slow. After doing more research I found out that if I paid $40 more, I could get the T4. Why wouldn't I do that? The T4 is faster, it has more MPs, it has a touch screen, and it can hold two memory cards. It has in camera HDR and video autofocus. Now when it originally came out the price was much higher and the T3 was a better bang for your buck, but ever since the price of the T4 came down, it makes no sense to to get the T3.

I love this camera and Canon products in general, however it has some issues. The issues did not happen straight away. On the second day of shooting is when the trouble started. I make no claim to be a professional photographer, this review is an opinion of a photo hobbyist. So after shooting around a 180 pictures mostly with the view finder the camera went dead no power to the unit. I also had an error code display, I can't say for sure that I could see the entire code, but the camera stopped working. When this happened I removed the battery, and placed it back in the camera, and then the camera powered on. It performed flawlessly for about 20 or more shots. The shots I took looked amazing but I also had some bad shots. I will take credit for the bad shots it was not the fault of the camera. When I was finished shooting, I removed the camera battery and placed it in the charger. The very next day I went for a photo shoot. I shoot mostly view finder,I shot about 200 photos this time. When I was finished shooting I turned the camera off. Sometime later I went to use the camera again, I turned the camera on, and no responded. I removed the battery, and charged it, when it was fully charged I placed the battery in the camera and it worked just fine. I have not used the camera since. I'm concerned with the camera , I bought the camera to use on a family vacation. I don't want to have my camera fail on my vacation, so the following morning I called Amazon Customer Service. I explain my situation with the camera. Amazon is sending me a new camera, expedited shipping it will be here on Wednesday. I will rate this camera with 4 stars. I will subtract one star for being unreliable, I really love this camera , and hope the next one will be problem free. I could have just received a lemon I understand that. Would I recommend this camera to someone else despite its shortcomings. The answer is yes, however my tune my change if I receive another unit with the same issues. Well if that happens I will cut my loses and get a refund sad to say. I owned many Canon cameras both film, and digital and all of those examples performed flawlessly. Until then I will wait with anticipation for the new unit to arrive. I rate 5 stars to Amazons customer service they always shine in my eyes. More to follow and, hopefully the next review will be great.Sincerely Robert

This is a great DSLR camera, but I must admit that I erroneously bought it for achieving a cinematic look to video. I read and heard so much about the wonders of shooting DSLR video that I gave it a try. After using it several times, I realized that the work flow is so challenging and time consuming compared to true video cameras that I sold it and went back to my video camera roots. I picked up a canon XA10 to pair with my HF G10 and I've been totally happy. This is a great camera for still photography, but for video the limitations on clip length, sound, ergonomics, and rolling shutter jello just don't cut it for me.

I'm no expert or anything. Just a standard guy who decided he didn't have enough pictures of things and wasn't satisfied with documenting his life with a cell phone camera.I read up on cameras for a while I came down to this one or the T3i. My parents both have a T3 themselves and I was pretty happy with the results I got playing around with those. Looking at the main differences between the two, (The ones I concerned myself with were primarily the large difference in resolution (12.2 MP on the T3 and 18 MP on the T3i) , the self-cleaning sensor (T3i), the 1080p (T3i) vs 720p (T3) video recording, and the external microphone jack (T3i))Obviously, I ended up going with the T3. Why, you ask? Well, I did some research and found that, when printing photos at 300 dpi (very high quality) you can get prints up to 14x9"! I can't imagine a scenario in which an amateur like myself would need to print anywhere near that, so that eliminated my desire for the very high 18 MP count. Here's an illustration to explain it:[...]I heard great stories about the self-cleaning sensor, however, after looking up instruction on how to clean your sensor, it became clear that this feature would be handy on very rare occasions. Not to mention, keeping the autocleaning feature on increases the time it takes to go from "camera off" to "taking photos." If I want to take a picture of something, I don't want to wait for my camera to groom itself; I want it now.The big drawback to this camera is its reduced functionality in taking video compared with its overachieving cousin. Don't get me wrong, it would be great to shoot video in 1080p and be able to use an external mic for sound versatility, but I bought this camera to take photographs. The fact that it takes video at all is just a bonus.By buying this camera instead of the T3i, I was able to get a nice zoom lens bundled with it for the same total price I would have paid for just the T3i kit. (Via the little offer a few sections under the price on the product page.)MY IMPRESSIONS:This is my first DSLR. It's a huge step up from my phone. With the included lens, I was almost immediately able to take the best pictures I've ever taken of my dog, my cats, my girlfriend, and anything I felt like shooting. I haven't tried all of the features because I like shooting in manual mode (Occasionally using autofocus when I'm feeling lazy) but I can say this thing is great. In good light, pictures come out crisp, clean, and vibrant. In bad light, with some adjustments and a steady hand, pictures come out crisp, clear, and vibrant! The HUD in the viewfinder makes the LCD unnecessary except for viewing pictures. When using autofocus or when holding the shutter button halfway while focusing, little red lights come up on a grid in the viewfinder to show you what you're focusing on. This feature really helps get a sharpness you can't even really perceive while you're shooting, only when reviewing photos later. When I flip the switch to turn the camera on, I can start shooting almost instantly. The time it takes to ready itself is less than what it takes for me to bring the camera up to my face. The video it takes, while not perfect, is way better than on my phone. I can't say anything about hearing the autofocus while shooting but you probably can. I just haven't used it while messing with the video function.Overall, I'd say this camera (the possibility of accidents aside) will last me more than long enough to master photography to the point that I can justify buying a professional level shooty picture machine. If you're a beginner, just wanting to take good pictures, look no further. The T3i is great and all, but for the extra money, you wouldn't be getting much more.

I used this for about 5 years and had the main circuit damaged twice. Thus I think I got a faulty one and the time between malfunctions left me with no option to ask for help.Apart from that, I enjoyed using this camera. Knowing its boundaries in ISO and shutter speed will allow you to take proper photos on difficult conditions. Battery life will get you around easily. Video is nice but focusing is nothing special. The range of lenses available is outstanding and the customer service worldwide is great. If you're looking for your first DSLR try getting higher in the rebel family. If you're looking for something in a budget, this one might help a lot. Guarantee you will learn a lot about taking proper photos.I think I will get into an 80D after this one. Hopefully it will last longer.

This camera is likely more than the casual user needs, in fact I think even some professional photographers could do most everything they need to with this camera. About a year and a half ago I saw this camera with the kit lens, a

I did a great deal of research before finally choosing the Nikon D3200. In addition to the megapixels, it had a few more improvements over the D3100, and I decided I was willing to shell out the extra dollars for the improvements. I've only had my camera for a month. I have no prior experience or knowledge with things like aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc. I'm slowly learning through research and playing with the camera. I had read this camera was great for beginners, because the LCD screen is very visual as you are making changes. For example, when changing the aperture, there is a circular image that gets smaller and wider showing what you are doing, etc. The product came with the standard 18-55mm lens as described. I haven't really used the lens much as I purchased an additional lens when I purchased the camera. I've read the lens is a good beginner lens. As you learn more about how to use the camera, you'll eventually desire other lenses. The camera comes with the rechargeable battery and charger, a camera strap that says NIKON and a lens cover. There is as small built in flash that you manually turn on and off. If you are new, take the time to read the instruction manual and then get on the internet and read, read, read. It might seem very overwhelming at first as you hear terms and numbers that you don't even kind of understand, but once the basics click you'll open up a whole new world. If you've been wanting to invest in a camera, I can't imagine you would regret this one. There are reviews all over the internet that confirm this is a good, quality camera.

This is a nice starter camera, the only issue I have with it is the delay before the autofocus kicks in and it shoots, I use canon cameras and don't have this issue.

Full disclosure: I really miss my old, fully manual, heavy, tough-as-nails camera that used actual film. Digital devices tend to make me angry. However, I took a leap of faith and bought this bundle, when the price was deeply reduced, because I am sick of the many limitations of my cell phone camera. I am pleased with my purchase overall, with a few caveats. Picture quality on this Nikon is excellent, the feel of the camera is comfortable and light in the hands (if a bit too plasticky), buttons and toggles seem to be in logical positions (for a right-handed person, at least). The lenses seem to be well made, but I'm not sure I can judge that, as my point of reference is the equivalent-length, pre-digital, fully mechanical lens that makes these plastic-casing lenses feel cheap. Once you know where everything is on the camera, and how to get the functions and images you want, it all feels very WYSIWYG. However, until you have learned the ropes, it is nearly impossible to see the icons on the different settings and functions. This camera is made for young eyes, which is annoying for middle-aged me. The printed instructions are written for an utter neophyte (how to hold a camera and stand to take a photo, for instance), so it's easy enough to find out what to do. But why go with an icon the size of an ant when you could use an easily-seen color, or letter? It's frustrating. The editing software that comes with thus is useless, so my husband told me after he tried to install it. He checked various boards online and found many complaints about it saying much the same thing, so I guess I'll be using another program. I do wonder, too, why these things are never sold with memory cards, or why Amazon doesn't link one in the "often bought together" option. I stole one from my husband's stash of digital goodies (he says to me, with just the tiniest bit of an eye roll, that memory cards are never included with these things, so silly me).
